TYPES OF AN AUTOMOBILE ENGINE
There are two types of an atomobile engine as shown bellow.
1: EXTERNAL COMBUTION ENGINE (E.C.E)
Is an engine which the burning of fuel take place out side of the engine. In this engine type is used to convert the water or other low boiling temperature fluid into steam. This high pressure steam used to rotate the tubene. In this tye type we can use all sold, liquid and gases fuel. These Engine are generally used in driving locomotive, ship, generation of electric power.
2: INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE (I.C.E)
It is an engine in which burning of fuel take place inside the engine. When the fuel burns inside the engine cylinder, it generates a high pressure temperature. This high pressure force is exerted on the piston which used to rotate the wheel of the vehicle. In these engine we can use only gases and high volatile fuel like petrol, diesel.
TYPES OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE.(I.C.E)
Internal combustion engine.
Is widely used in automobile industries so it also known as automobile engine. May be classfied in many manners.
Here are some important classficatio of an automobile engine.
(1). ACCORDING TO NUMBER OF STROCK.
I: Two stroke engine.
In a two stroke engine a piston move one time up and down the cylinder and cmplete one crankshaft revoluton during single time of fuel burn. This type of engine has high torque compare to four stroke engine. There are generally used in scooter pumping set. etc.
II: Four stroke engine.
In a four stroke engine a piston move two time up and two down inside the cylinder and complete two crank shaft revolution during single time of fuel burn. This types of engine has high average compare to two stroke engine. These generally used in bike,cars,truck.etc.
(2). ACCORDING TO DESINGN OF ENGINE.
In reciprocating engine the pressure force generated by combution of fuel exerted on the piston. So piston starts reciprocating motion(too and fromotion).
This reciprocation motion convert into rotary motion by use of crank shaft. So the crank shaft start to rotete and rotate the wheel of vehicle. These are generally used in all automobile.
(2).ROTARY ENGINE (WANKEL ENGINE).
In rotary engine there is rotor which free to rotate. The pressure force generated by burning of fuel is exerted on this rotor so the rotor rotate and start to rotate the wheel of the vehicle. This engine is developed by wankel in 1957. This engine is not used in automobile in present day.
(3).ACCORDING TO FUEL USED.
- Diesel engine.
These engine use diesel as fuel. These are used in trucks,buses,car.etc.
- Petrol engine.
These use petrol as the fuel. These are used in bike, sport car, luxury car.etc.
- Gas engine.
These use CNG and LPG as the fuel. Thes are used in some light motor vehicles.
- Electric engine.
It is eco-frindly engine. It doesn’t use any fuel to burn it use electric energy to rotate wheel.
(4). ACORDING TO METHOD OF IGNITION.
